Stonewall Jackson House

The Stonewall Jackson House at 8 East Washington Street in Lexington, Virginia is the only home that the famous Confederate General Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson ever owned. Jackson and his wife, Mary Anna Morrison, lived in the house while he taught at the Virginia Military Institute before the Civil War. The house, a Registered National Landmark, is owned and operated by the Stonewall Jackson Foundation.

This internet site is designed to serve as a source of information about the life and times of Jackson, particularly his days in Lexington, and to serve as a visitors' guide for those planning trips to this historic area.

2008 Apple Days
Saturday, October 18th promises to be a day of family fun at the Stonewall Jackson House.

Fresh pressed apple cider, games, crafts and music have been a part of this annual fall festival for many years. Apple Day has become a fixture for many families who return year after year to share with their children the wonders of life before electronic technology.

Visitors will enjoy fiddle music provided by local group The Poison Bottom Boys, reminding us all, of the rich musical heritage of the Shenandoah Valley.

Among the many activities available, children may want to try making corn husk dolls or roping a bed, or creating nineteenth century scarecrows.

Bring your children and friends and join us for this year's Apple Day. Don't forget to take home pumpkins and fall decorations available for purchase from Fancy Hill Plants. These FREE family activities begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. at the Stonewall Jackson House located at 8 E. Washington Street in Lexington.
