Fees

The registration fee includes a tour of the Jackson House, the opening address, all lectures, the optional VMI Post tour Saturday afternoon, coffee and doughnuts, a deli lunch, the closing dinner and reception (with cash bar) Saturday night, and a 10% discount in both the Stonewall Jackson House Museum Shop and the Virginia Military Institute Museum Shop on May 27, 28, and 29, 2016.  The fee does not include transportation, accommodations, or dinner on Friday.

Refunds

If you must cancel your registration, you may do so in writing by email or fax to (540) 463-4088 so we receive it on or before April 15, and we will refund all but a $25 administration fee.

If we receive your cancellation in writing after April 15, but on or before May 18, we will refund $100.00.

After May 18, 2023 no refunds are available.

Transportation

The nearest airports to Lexington are Roanoke Regional Airport (50 miles south) and the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (75 miles northeast).  The symposium will take place on the Virginia Military Institute Post, with ancillary activities elsewhere in Lexington.  These sites are within walking distance for serious walkers with comfortable shoes, but otherwise are an easy drive.

Parking

Because of severely limited parking on the VMI Post, participants should plan to carpool from their lodgings to sessions and meals.  Maps will be provided showing parking areas and locations of symposium activities.

Accommodations

Participants are responsible for making their own housing arrangements and may select from a variety of motels, inns, and over two dozen bed-and-breakfast establishments in Lexington and Rockbridge County.  For more information on the wide variety of lodging options in the community, go to www.lexingtonvirginia.com and select “lodging” from the menu.  Participants are encouraged to make reservations immediately because events at the Virginia Horse Center and the local colleges create stiff competition for available rooms.

For the convenience of symposium registrants, the Stonewall Jackson House has reserved blocks of rooms at five local motels located close to the Route 11 – I-64 interchange.  These blocks will be held until May 1, 2016, for symposium participants.  To reserve a room, please contact the inn directly, and be sure to say that you are attending the Stonewall Jackson Symposium.
