The Libery Hall Volunteers by W.G. Bean
At the outbreak of the Civil War, a group of students from Washington College, now Washington and Lee University, formed an infantry company. In June of 1861 the company was assigned to the Fourth Virginia Infantry Regiment, in a brigade commanded by General Stonewall Jackson and later known as the famous Stonewall Brigade. W. G. Bean's book, first published in 1964, is a detailed history of the company from its founding through the end of the war. The book has been reprinted with an introduction by Robert K. Krick and includes over fifty photographs of the young men who made up the Liberty Hall Volunteers. (Paperback)
